Naga Insurgency

This book is a major research work. Much has been written on the Nagas mainly by the administrators and the army men who are posted in that area. Most of the books are more or less narrative and journalistic. Besides, very few insiders have written on this controversial aspect of Naga problem. The author himself is a Naga and he has tried to project the problems from insider’s point of view as he sees it. The story goes back as far as early history of the Nagas then caught up with the modern period. 1955 was the beginning of armed conflict between the Nagas and the Armed forces.

There are as many as 14 chapters, the first 4 chapters deal with underground Naga activities, Modus operendi and so on. The author has also studied the traditional political institutions and their introduction into modern democratic system. He has examined the voting behavior of the candidate and the electorates. He has also analyzed the problems and prospects of assimilation and acculturation of the people into the comity of Indian nation and culture. The book will specialty help better understanding in solving the Naga tangle in more pragmatic and objective manner for both the Nagas and the national policy makers.
