The language spoken by the Jats is called by themselves Jatu. The same language, with dialectical differences, is spoken throughout the Bangar of high-lands lying between the Khadir of the Yamuna on the east and the Hissar, Haryana tract on the west. The language is also known in different parts as Bangaru, Jatuor Hariani. The work is divided into three main bodies. The first is grammatical. The second part o provides the Jatu-English Glossary interpolating proverbs and riddles in illustration of the words. Third part constitutes the English-Jatu Glossary. The glossary shall be found useful by the students of the language as this is the only authentic work available. It will be an addition to any good language library, and will be of particular value to the people serving in the region, where this language is spoken.
