The New Thought is a theory and method of mental life with special reference to healing, and the fostering of attitudes, modes of conduct and beliefs which make for health and general welfare.
No name stands out more prominently in the history of the New Thought movement than that of the Dressers. Horatio W. Dresser, son of Julius A. and Annetta Seabury Dresser, was perhaps the most prolific writer yet developed within the movement.
His first publication was a lecture entitled “”The Immanent God”” while he was still an undergraduate. The following year saw the publication of his first full-length book, “”The Power of Silence.”” Within a span of just seven years that book had gone through fifteen editions.
The Spirit of New Thought is a collection of addresses and essays by major New Thought leaders which Dresser edited.
