Nagas

As first perceived the Nagas produce a queer thrill impossible to describe. The outward strangeness of things gives a feeling of weirdness which is totally different from any race or culture in the world. The first impression of the Nagas recorded by travelers and anthropologists are also full of mystic and romantic images. The Nagas have intrigued many generations of visitors by their unusual appearance and their very distinct dwellings and culture.

Most of that has been written about this race comes from foreigners and outsiders. For the first time the past and present of Nagas is explored and exposed by a Nagas himself who understand them better than anyone else. This work is a personal impressionistic study of the moods and atmosphere at a time when the Nagas are undergoing a tremendous change, with the dawn of modernization.

The book clearly serves two purposes: firstly to update the existing knowledge on this fascinating race, and secondly it reexamines the Naga society and its culture. A fascinating book indeed.
