The present work throws light on the basic nature of Indian psychology in a unique way. India is the’land where psychology in the sense of systematic study of mind was undertaken for the first time in human history. However, the number of works on Indian psychology are few. The present work presents all the aspects of Indian psychology in a readable and systematic form. As compared with Indian psychology, modern psychology has a very recent origin. Most of the persons are aquainted with the nature of modern psychology. But Indian psychology differs from modern psychology in a fundamental way. The former is spiritual while the latter is a spiritual and material in nature. The former believes that man is a spiritual being in nature and should try to realize his hidden spirituality, while the latter thinks that mind is nothing more than a stream of consciousness. A study of Indian psychology is decidedly more beneficial than a study of modern psychology, because it inspires a person to transcend his ordinary personality marked by constant inner and outer conflicts and disturbances and helps him to reach a level where nothing but a perpetual calm and a sense of perfection remain. The present work shall help a person in understanding the significance of Indian psychology and shall prove an aid in remembering his innate being.
