Development of American Literary Criticism

This book is a reprint of 1955 edition, published by The University of North Carolina Press. The five essays were developed from papers given by their respective authors at the annual meeting of the Modern Literature group of the Modern Language Association in December 1952. The editor of this useful work, Dr. Floyd Stovall, was the Chairman of the session. The combined essays offer a preliminary history of the art of literary criticism as developed in the United States.
