Modelled upon the plan and general design of the famous Black’s Medical Dictionary, the Dictionary of Veterinary Science will serve as a standard reference tool for those who have little or no access to technical books upon veterinary subjects, and find insufficient information in those numerous popular works. This popular dictionary is an endeavor to provide information in simple language, and to use terms which, while not invariably scientifically correct, do not include the multitude of colloquialisms too frequently associated with animal diseases. Definitions are given of the terms commonly used while studying or practicing veterinary science, including those of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and pharmacology. Notes upon anatomy and physiology, giving the most salient features, precede descriptions of the diseases of the various organs of the body. The book will be found enormously useful by the students, either of veterinary science or agriculture, who desires to obtain information rapidly and without consulting numerous books or periodicals; and by the busy practitioner during the exigencies of his calling.
