Galileo Galili

This version of the play is the famous one that was brought to completion by Brecht himself, working with Charles Laughton, who played Galileo in the first two American productions (Hollywood and New York, 1947). Since then the play has become a classic in the world repertoire. Bertolt Brecht was born in Augsburg, Germany, in 1898. One of the most influential dramatists of our time, he is best known for his classic plays The Threepenny Opera, Galileo, and Mother Courage and Her Children, as well as many others. He died in Berlin in 1956.
