Encyclopaedia of Educational Research

The publication of this encyclopaedia is a milestone in the progress of research in education. Quite as significant as the encyclopaedia itself is the cooperative effort that produced it. The work has been universally hailed as “an achievement of which all engaged in education may be proud.”

Prepared under the auspices of the American Educational Research Association, it is a tribute to the vision and zeal of its learned Editor, Professor Walter S. Monroe. He was joined by Carter Alexander of the Teachers College, Columbia University; W. W. Charters from Ohio State University; J. Cayce Morrison, Chairman, Sate Education Department, New York; Frank N. Freeman from University of California, Berkeley; and Douglas E. Scates from Duke University, in the Editorial Board to take this ambitious work to completion. The List of Contributors reads like a who’s who of luminaries in the field of education. This reference work is designed for readers and researchers investigating national and international aspects of educational research. It contains entries, arranged alphabetically by headings of greatest pertinence to education and educational research. The scope is comprehensive, encompassing all major areas of education, including assessment, content and instructional procedures, curriculum, enrichment, international comparisons, and psychology of learning and instruction.
