Education of the Blind

The universal requirement of teaching and learning – that is to say, a method of teaching and of learning with such certainty that the result desired must of necessity follow – is a fundamental requisite in the education of the blind. Many books and articles have been written about the psychology of blindness, the world of the blind, the history of the work for the blind, and on other complex problems of the blind, but the scarcity of reliable material on methods of teaching the blind is notable and tragic. The present book fulfils this great want. The volume is made up of articles written by the teachers of the blind who have specialized in the various fields of instruction. The purpose of the book is to prepare the individual child for successful living in the complex socio-economic life of the changing world of our present age.
