Early Hindu India

A regular history of Early Hindu India has long been a great desideratum and the author has tried in his own scholarly way to meet this vacuum. “Old India” said Prof. Weber, “is still full of riddles” and Prof. R.C. Dutta first cut a road to it with his scholarly study. By giving this study the author has added the political outline, making the present work the most comprehensive study on Hindu India in a readable form. According to the author, “only the learned few possess a correct knowledge of ancient India and the masses till revel in the marvels, delight in dreams with hyperboles.”

Other topics covered are the Geographical extent of the Hindu world, Religions God and Goddesses, Literature-Sama, Yagur and Athrava Vedas, the Brahmanic literature, Upanishads, The Ramayana and the Mahabhatra, Philosophy both Vedic and Puranic etc. Deep study on the important dynasties of this age viz., The Pradyota Dynasty, The Nalanda Dynasty, The Maurya Dynasty and the last two sections on “India in the rationalistic age and India in the Puranic age are extremely illustrative and informatory.
