Professional Crime in India

This empirical study is an attempt to put one step further in the direction of explaining crime in India as that of Professional Crime. The author has studied Vijayawada, which is an important city in the state of Andhra Pradesh, to offer an analysis of professional crime and criminals. This city is a key centre due to its locational importance by connecting North India to South through rail and road.

This book explains in depth about crime in general and criminal behavior patterns in particular. This study is based on the first hand information collected through observation, interviews and discussions with criminals, police, Judiciary, Prison officials, lawyers, acquaintances and relatives of criminals, victims and public those who are interested in curbing crime, apart from making use of the secondary data that was collected from police, judiciary and prison records.

This book is very useful for the students of sociology, criminology and law, and to the police, judiciary, lawyers and others. The findings of this study can be applied to other similar parts of the country, and the cities and towns in India.
