Political Islam

This new Major Work from Cosmo is concerned with the development of political thought in Islam. By political thought is meant, broadly, the study and interpretation of Islamic political ideas, institutions, the spiritual and political revolutions in Islam.

The works included in the series represent the early attempts at under-standing the political authority and institutions and Islamic political convictions; and how politics in the Islamic world has related to and interacted with other disciplines, such as religion, law, ethics, philosophy and statehood.
