An Outline of Money

This book has only one object – neither to propound new refinements in the theory of money nor to advocate any particular monetary policy, but quite simply to explain the ‘how it works’ of our present monetary system. The readers and critics will bear in mind that the purpose of the book is not to achieve any formal completeness – for which the student can be referred to a large number of excellent textbooks – but to provide a first view for the layman of the main contours of an extensive field of knowledge.
