Object Lesson Manual for Elementary Science

In writing these lessons the aim has been to furnish practical outlines of an interesting and educative method of treatment calculated to arouse the curiosity and to maintain the interest of the child, rather then to give a mere agglomeration of facts. Young teachers require guidance as to the subject-matter to be imparted, and the methods to be adopted; and these lessons have been specially prepared to meet both requirements.

The special features of the lessons are : They are suggestive as to the method of treatment; they are full in matter; the salient points are conspicuously shown by variety of type; the illustrations accompany the lessons; the instructions to the teacher are printed in distinctive type; a list of apparatus required is given; and a Blackboard Summery of the chief points of each lesson is appended.

An attempt is also made to indicate what should be drawn from the children and what should be told them.
