Nepal

A faithful description of the alluring valley of Nepal, based upon personal observation and inquiry, this work, although a small volume about a small valley, dwells upon almost all topics of any significance regarding this valley. It traces the entire history of the country form the mythological periods extending through the Satya Treta and Dwapar Yugas or ages giving a detailed description of the various important dynasties. The reader is taken on a journey into the past beginning with the founding of the Gupta dynasty by Ne Muni, after which came a new dynasty founded by Vikramaditya’s successor, then came the advent of a new Rajput dynasty, the throne thereafter being filled by a descendent of the former Malk Rajas, who founded a new dynasty and the journey is concluded with a brief genealogy of the king of Nepal.

Numerous curious legends regarding the temples, towns and holy places of the country are brought to light in this study and the recent history of the country and the intercourse with the British – is briefly sketched. This volume should prove to be extremely interesting and useful to Oriental scholars or the general public desiring to acquire knowledge about the history of this microscopic yet greatly fascinating independent world surrounded by the snowy range of the Himalayas and harboring in its heart a jealously guarded treasury of ancient mysteries.
