A competent knowledge of the Koran is indispensable as on introduction to the study of Arabic literature, yet practical difficulties in it abound. Nor is it to be expected that all the transcendent excellencies and miraculous beauties to be discovered in the Koran should immediately unveil themselves to the seeker. This work has therefore been compiled with the intention of its proving of service to the beginner in mastering some inevitable difficulties, and also to the more advanced Arabist in resolving some problems.
